Welcome to The Simplist

“Live out of your imagination.” – Stephen Covey

The reason why I decided to write this blog is because a question occurred to me recently, and I wanted to explore that question: why can’t I just jump out of bed tomorrow morning and start living my ideal life? What is keeping me from setting my mind to living the life of my dreams, going after it with gusto, and actually accomplishing what I’ve set my mind to?

I have often wondered what life would be like if I woke up one morning, jumped out of bed and started living as my ideal self. I’ve imagined an existence where I hop up at my first alarm (my pesky snooze button habit suddenly nonexistent), get some exercise in during the morning, hop in the shower, shower, blow dry my hair so nary a hair is out of place, expertly apply makeup, put on a stylish outfit and zip off to an amazing job that I adore because I’m making money from what I’m passionate about.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the only way to achieve such a life is to simplify, simplify, simplify. Living a simpler life does not equate to it being easier, minimalistic or without complexity. In fact, a simple life is far more difficult to live out. It requires devotion to ruthlessly cutting everything out of your life that does not fit in with the vision you have for your existence. Life is not worthwhile if it is not lived with passion, with industry, and with purpose. Live consciously, or not at all. And in order to live mindfully, it requires prioritizing and simplifying, so you’re only focusing on the things that matter to you.

And now I’ve begun.
