Enjoying dinner in the Mission District of San FranciscoWe all want to live richer, more purposeful and rewarding lives, but sometimes inertia gets in the way. I want to experiment with my own life by mindfully simplifying everything I do, cutting out the clutter to get to the heart of my ideal existence.

Becoming a Lone Wolf
The more I work on simplifying and honing in on my key goals, the more I realize how little time I have and how precious a resource it is. With that in mind, I’ve decided I need to go into hiding for a little while. It’s time to be a lone wolf. I’m in a [...]

Battle Prep
This week marks the first in an eight-week training program I’m starting in preparation for my first 10K race at the end of March. Last night I went to Safeway and stocked up on healthy foods, meals and snacks to make sure I keep myself well-fueled as I up my exercise routine by a significant [...]

This morning I’m getting on a plane for South by Southwest Interactive (SXSW), a geek festival of sorts in Austin, TX that takes place every spring. While I’m there, there’s a hugely important thing I need to make sure I do. I need to figure out what I’m doing for my workout routine.

Brunch, the Ultimate Weekend Reward
Over last weekend I went running on Saturday and Sunday at Crissy Field in the Presidio of San Francisco. The weather was gorgeous, and all total I logged about 10 miles of exercise. As a reward for devoting our weekend mornings to the pursuit of rigorous activity, my friends and I decided brunch was the [...]

Establishing a Base Fitness Routine
I’m doing the Body for Life fitness challenge, which requires relatively short early morning workouts six days a week. I’m almost half-way there (six weeks) and I haven’t missed a day yet.
